Betrayed by the Necromongers and left for dead on a remote planet, Riddick learns to adapt to the harsh environment and rediscover his predatory instincts. When a more deadly threat appears on the horizon, he is forced to activate an emergency beacon attracting two ships: one filled with mercenaries, and another captained by a man with a personal vendetta against Riddick.
The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.
You can be pretty assured that that is all you gonna see in this flick!And it&#39;s amusing in the color full CGI way and some of the characters are pretty fun to watch, putting the movie in the middle grounds.<br/><br/>Disel acting makes it go for an more serious approach but it doesn&#39;t lack in WTF moments.And they are truly that.You just go &#39;what he f… ?!&quot; and after a few minutes in the movie you will understand that those are not going to be answered or explained.And that this is a thrill ride with blurry lines and to be treated like that is the only way to fully pleasure watching it.
This movie was okay. A restart for the franchise, brought the story line back to Riddick and away from the necromancer subplot. I Liked that it was low budget like the original, it helps create a more subtle story. <br/><br/>However, unlike the first movie which is a sci-fi retelling of Hitchcock&#39;s &#39;Lifeboat&#39; introducing the Riddick character; a convict with a heart. This story focuses on Riddick and moves his life a long, which is good because that&#39;s what the whole story is really about. Riddick&#39;s redemption and road to finding out who he really is and where he actually belongs. <br/><br/>The pace of this movie is slow and drawn out, similar to Pitch Black. We see the monster before it comes down on all the humanity in the movie. The action scenes are still classic. Everyone&#39;s on their toes around Riddick.<br/><br/>The dialogue isn&#39;t as subtle and deep as Pitch Black. There&#39;s no question as to what&#39;s going to happen. Riddick actually gets his girl this time and says he&#39;s going too. Guess he&#39;s tired of having them die. Nor is she a protagonist, she&#39;s a supporting character. The Male Captain takes on Fry&#39;s role which is an irony all for itself that works out very well for Riddick.<br/><br/>if you have enjoyed the Riddick series, definitely go watch this. it&#39;s better than Chronicles.
Riddick, as a character, is best when he's alone, fighting against insurmountable odds, with narratives that serve his singular nastiness.
Riddick takes place in 2196, i.e. five years after the events of <a href="/title/tt0296572/">The Chronicles of Riddick (2004)</a> (2004), which was set five years after the events of <a href="/title/tt0134847/">Pitch Black (2000)</a> (2000), meaning that all three movies happen within a decade. She says, &quot;Let me ask you something, sweet-like…&quot; We&#39;re not told exactly what her question is but, based on Riddick&#39;s words from a previous scene, it is implied that she is asking him to have sex with her. Of course, she already told Santana that she doesn&#39;t &quot;fuck men&quot; but she may simply have been lying to Santana because she obviously despised him. No. Director David Twohy hinted prior to the theatrical release date that the home video releases could contain a longer version of the survival thriller. It was supposed to contain more of the mythology in the background. The movie&#39;s first cut clocked in at 2 hours and 20 minutes, a runtime that is unsuitable for most of today&#39;s cinema films. Twohy shortened it until it reached the desired 2-hour mark but promised to enrich the Unrated Extended Cut with some of that material. And that&#39;s what he did. While the theatrical version is quite short on the matter that Riddick left the Necromonger throne, the Extended Cut shows that for him staying on wasn&#39;t really a life-prolonging option. And the ending was also notably prepared for the theoretical possibility that a 4th film could transport the story in Chronicles of Riddick directions once again. It remains to be seen if that ever happens but in the meantime, fans of Riddick can raise their hopes a little more with the Extended Cut of the film that makes another adventure of their hero more plausible.
